Purpose

Support optic nerve function and circulation in patients with glaucoma, post-stroke field loss, diabetic retinopathy/ischemia, optic neuritis, ischemic optic neuropathy, or partial atrophy.


Treatment Setup

  • Seat patient comfortably with eyes closed.
  • Position device gently over closed eyelids.
    • Contact mode for standard use.
    • Hover mode for recent surgery or fragile tissue.
  • Ensure terminals are clean or covered before each use.
  • Follow protocol timing and sequences as directed by supervising OD/MD.

Safety Reminders

  • Do not apply pressure on the globe.
  • Avoid treating through dressings.
  • Use hover mode for fresh post-op tissue or where sensitivity is high.
  • Stop immediately if patient reports pain, swelling, or unexpected vision changes. Notify OD/MD.

Patient Communication (During Session)

  • โ€œYou may see a blinking light with your eyes closed โ€” thatโ€™s normal.โ€
  • โ€œThe treatment is safe, comfortable, and only takes a few minutes.โ€

Documentation

  • Record session details in the patientโ€™s file (date, eye(s), duration, protocol used).
  • Note any patient-reported changes or concerns.

Escalation

  • Direct all clinical questions to supervising OD/MD.
  • Refer urgent issues (redness, sudden change in vision, pain) immediately.
